I recently purchased a new 14 m1 macbook pro, using in clamshell mode it is taking too long for the screen to come back. I have to keep pressing keys and eventually it wakes after around a minute. Is there anything I can do to speed this up? Really considering sending it back, I was all set on getting the Mac Studio until I heard about all the noise issues, but I can't have this every time it goes to sleep :(

I should have asked if anything else is hooked up too. I assume a keyboard is. Some accessories can cause strange behavior.

I haven't noticed other complaints about this. What does it do if you open the lid with all the same devices attached?

My latest great idea for everything is to restart in safe mode, when nothing else is an obvious solution.

Yeah I have a keyboard too connected to a anker usb c. I'm sending it back today, can't be doing with the hassle. It's a great laptop when used as a laptop, I only bought this due to all the talk of the studio being loud, might have known this wouldn't work out either

Should work fine, many are using external monitors without trouble. Hope you find what you want.
