This MacBook is still new to me, I am getting used to the brighter screen coming from a 2013 15" Retina. This seems pretty bright! Anyway, I can be working on it and then after a while the screen colour will adjust, I understand this, but it is happening when no other lighting has changed anywhere in the room. Is True Tone slow to respond. When I turn it off the screen is a warmer colour. Is this right?

Typically with true tone you won't even notice it's on especially the way you're talking about. With True Tone on colors will be more adaptive to the light, not necessarily warmer. It sound like you have Night Shift on which is much more extreme and defiantly makes the screen noticeable warmer.

As I said, any Apple device using true tone should be almost imperceivable to the user while in use.

Nightshift is off. I just changed the resolution and then changed it back and that may have somehow kicked it back in how it should be. I will keep an eye on it.
