Hi all!
Earlier this week I was checking if the fans were working on my MacBook Pro and when putting my ear right next to the keyboard (almost touching it) I noticed some very faint static noise (it is a coil whine, but very fain, with no screeching sounds, just a very faint buzz or ticking).
It is noticeable around the Y and H keys.
Note that at a normal working distance, I cannot hear a thing, just if I purposely put my ear very close to the keyboard.
I know this is very common in electronics in general, the fact is that I have never noticed this til now (I have several Macs and to be honest, I never put my ear so close to it to tell :) ).
After noticing this, I tested with a Lenovo ThinkPad I have, that I used everyday for years without ever noticing anything and guess what: the coil whine is there (again, if listening almost touching the keyboard with my ear).
Any of you ever noticed this?
Again, this is not the usual coil whine issue reported, in which the noise is loud enough to be heard on a normal working distance, and that would be annoying.
In this case, using the MacBook at a normal distance I can't hear a thing.
Just chiming in to get your feedback.
Just a heads up for those who will almost immediately say theirs MacBooks are dead silent, pleas notice that many people are unable to hear these frequencies, so it's not a loud noise.
It's a very faint one.
Would love to hear your feedback on this.

I could also hear that noise on two 16 inch MBPs with M3 Pro.
You can hear it clearly when scrolling through a webpage or the photos library.
Unfortunately i can hear this type of sounds too good, so it bothered me.
My M1 Air has this, but noticeably more quiet.

After reading your post I tested it out and I can hear it if I place my ear near the keyboard and scroll through a webpage.

Pretty faint on the MacBooks. We have Dells at work that have terrible coil wine. If I have to put my ear to the KB to hear it, it won't bother me.

@Ascn In my case it is a constant whine, not when scrolling, but on the other hand it is unnoticeable when using the MacBook Pro.
Only hear it, very faint, if I put my hear almost touching the keyboard.
Glad I can hear it on a normal working distance. I am very sensitive to these kind of sounds and it would be a nightmare.
@richard371: yes, luckily it is very faint and only audible when putting my hear to the keyboard. And even so, very, very faint.
