Just seeing if this is happening to anyone else, I have reported it to apple, but seemingly randomly when waking laptop from sleep the keyboard/trackpad become completely unresponsive, requiring a reboot to return to working since beta1.

Rather an annoying issue when it happens, either have to just force power off/on or VNC in to reboot.

Am I really the only person been having this issue with Catalina? Problem didn't occur until Catalina beta, and when tried to report it was marked unreproducable..

I’m having the same issue too, every time I try and wake my machine it’s totally unresponsive, I’ve reported the issue too, I've tweaked my power settings but it’s still doing it.

Having the same issue with my 2015 13" Retina MacBook Pro. Horrible! It's been here since DP4.

I've noticed my issues more often on battery, but not any consistent pattern.

2015 12 inch MacBook, same problem.

In my case I have used my laptop for a long time so I think the battery is slightly degraded so I always have to keep it plugged into power to do time machine back up… Therefore it seems like I may not be able to do back ups until the next beta. I will see if I can attempt a time machine back up while I’m battery power but I did notice a couple issues where the laptop claimed it needed to charge when I tried to turn on the machine, and then upon hooking up the power cord it was at 61% battery… So my battery probably needs serviced on top of this being an affected 2015 model.

My trackpad freezes when I am trying to do a time machine back up, however I don’t think the battery would last long enough for the large back up I need to do. At first I thought it was because of an overheating issue because the bottom got really warm, about to hot to touch. But even having a cooling pad or even an air conditioning blowing against it, it still kept freezing. And when I came back, whether it was the display turned off or the screen was still on, the entire system was frozen including trackpad.

I will try a time machine back up with power nap disabled and without any power source connect into it. I will do it with 100% charged and see if the system freezes including trackpad. I will mention that the screen image remains the same even when the laptop lid is completely closed.

Same issue for lots of people with 2015 Macbook. I recently had a new battery installed in mine by Apple and the symptoms are identical to yours, except I can use battery only power to get round the problem. It's been reported by quite a few people but you should do the same - hopefully it will be resolved in the next update - it's been two weeks since the last one, so hopefully soon.

Touch wood, I've not had it happen since 10.15.1 now.. but I'm not calling it solved for sure, as I had a period of several weeks back in september it didn't happen either.

Are you using VMWare Fusion?

Pretty certain these symptoms are caused by that -- have a 16" MBP which suffers from that if a Fusion VM is running. Have other threads here and on VMWare's forums.

I'm having this issue too. My machine usually says it "unexpectedly restarted because of a problem" upon wake from sleep, but when it doesn't do that I lose mouse click functionality upon wake from sleep. This is on a fresh install of Catalina 10.15.3, on a late 2014 iMac Retina. Actually performed two fresh installs in an attempt to fix this, but still happening......

Yeah my MBP 15" 2018 has been doing this every since I've been on 10.15. Another symptom for me is that when I wake the MBP, and once it finally responds and lets me sign in I have no internet access so I have to restart it.

It happens to me on my MBP 16" Cataline 10.15.5

Unlocked the screen and keyboard and mouse are totally unresponsive. Been this way randomly for quite awhile. This time, I hit the Siri button which caused it to become responsive again. For what that's worth.
