I will not go into the complete history, but this was a laptop that I gave up a couple of years ago when the power adapter stopped working. It has the notorious GPU issues , due to the double graphics adapters. Once a got another cord, I had managed to get everything backed up online. Then tried to reinstall MacOS and that is how I got here, 18 hours ago. I have been here before, and got further... just can't recall...hoping someone here can help ...

Currently,

  • I cannot go into Single-User Mode or Safe Mode
  • I can get into Diagnostic mode, but it finds nothing wrong, even on extended
  • No matter what key combination with R (Command;Command+Opt; Command + opt +shift), it goes thru the download, then restarts, with an apple logo and progress bar, once that is done, it comes up to a grey screen.
  • I currently do not have a flash drive to do this way, but realize I may have to get one.
Everything seemed to go further, until I reset the NVRAM - which contained the lines which helped my graphics display. Now I cannot enter single-user mode to add them back..

Please help!

Thank you!

Probably isn’t going to work but have you tried an external display?
