Hi all, New here so forgive any lack of understanding. Not only new to MacRumors but new to owning a MacBook Pro. Here is my issue:
I bought a used MacBook pro 15 inch off eBay and it turns out it needed a new battery, I looked around and I decided to pay the premium for an OEM battery off eBay from a trusted seller. Everything checks out in coconut battery showing the manufacturer Simplo and battery health is good. The issue is that it cuts off randomly when on battery. I am actively following instructions on other forums, and I have reset the PRAM, SMC and I am actively letting it drain and recharge. What seems strange to me is when it dies, it dies at around 28 percent and when it dies the battery status on the side of the machine shows dead, and when booted up after the shutdown, it shows 0% charging more than 10 hours and it runs deathly slow. However, if I hold the power button and turn it back on, the percentage goes back to what it was at before it shut down. Is this normal on a new battery? Does it need continued calibration? I really don't want to take it to the "genius" bar and have them tell me the battery needs replacing as I cannot really afford it to be professionally done. Should I just keep letting it discharge and recharge? Or what else should I do? Any help would be appreciated. Stats are this: MacBook Pro Late 2011 15 inch 1440x900 display, Intel core i7 2.4Ghz 8GB ram intel hd graphics 3000 and AMD radeon discrete graphics 500gb sata hard drive. Mac OS high sierra 10.13.3
