Simply cannot install Mac OS X Lion on my MacBook Pro due to some issue where the laptop just keeps restarting once the installation proceeds from the HDD. I have a faulty GPU and a dead battery. It used to show obvious signs of GPU problem at first when reinstalling OS with screen glitches, but later it won't even last a minute into the installation process and restarts.

Any workaround?

EDIT: I used gfxCardStatus during normal use and it did pretty much perfect, even when running Unity engine or 1080p videos on YouTube.

Do you know what "RadeonGate" is? (or was)
If not, better start reading up on it.

The 2011 15" and 17" are notorious for GPU failures.
There really isn't "a fix", other than
- replacing the motheboard (not sure if the GPU itself is removable)
- permanently disabling the discrete GPU (there is a long-running thread here about how to do that)

It's time to start looking for a replacement.
