Hello!

First of all I want to say that I'm going to use the computer for web design, video editing and making iphone/ipad games.

I've read all over the internet about people complaining about the glossy screen of the imac. They say a 27" glossy screen destroys your productivity because of the inaccurate display (exagerated color) and the reflection.

Well I guess this is an issue for me because the windows in my room are going to be right behind me when I'm staying at the computer. But I can close the curtains though.

So now I'm thinking of buying the macbook pro i7 15" (with the matte display) + a big monitor with less reflection instead of an imac i7 27".

Is this a wise choice or there's nothing to worry about the display of the 27"?
Also if I buy the macbook pro + the monitor will I get the same performance compared to an imac?

Coding doesn't take much in terms of specs at all.

I posted in another thread regarding performance:

I'm the farthest thing from a professional and it certainly isn't my career but I was just running garageband, imovie, itunes, safari, ichat, and xcode(forgot to shut it down), and I didn't notice even a hiccup.

2010 27" i3 4gb RAM.

Garage Band: I was putting together 2 songs. One with 2 tracks and one with 5.

iMovie: I was screwing around with trailers feature and importing video/music from itunes.

iTunes: had on just for some music in between working.

ichat: idle the entire time.

xcode: idle the entire time.

Safari: was using it a lot googleing all my questions I had with imovie and garageband.

Only time I beachballed was when writing large files the HDD (i think) and converting/formatting a few files.

Not meaning to have this construed as advice to buy the i3 but I was impressed it was able to handle what I through at it and with only 4gb ram. Pretty powerful machines.

Everyone thinks they need a space shuttle to get to the grocery store. I'm one of them occasionally. You'd be surprised how little difference there is in Ferrari speced machines and BMW M3 speced machines when the speed limit is 35mph. Hope that analogy made sense.

As far as displays: The 27" imac monitor will ruin other monitors for you. Reflection isn't huge deal for me as I can shut out natural light if need be. As far as color reproduction, I'm not gifted enough to tell.

Get the MBP if you're going to WORK away from home. Notice I emphasized WORK.

I was looking in the 'Post your setup' thread, and someone had a really nice setup with their Macbook Pro plugged into a monitor being held up by a dock kind of thing, And of course the Macbook + Monitor means you can use it on the go and as a desktop, That's the way I'd probably go... Only if I could afford the £1000 ACD along with a £1500 MBP :p So I should be getting a 27" iMac soon for £1500 :D :D :D
