Hi Guys,

I recently bought a 16 inch Macbook pro 16 inch, M1 pro chip. I have noticed when holding the laptop the base/bottom flexes especiqlly in the centre where the logo is situated. I am able to push in the base with my finger nad hear a quiet popping sound.

Does anyone else's Macbbok have this issue or is this normal ?

Thanks

Watch Snazzy Lab’s review on YouTube, the bottom plate is really quite soft and will flex if you apply pressure on it.

Thanks for the video. Snazzy Lab's clearly demonstrates how flexable the bottom plate is which is what I experience. I did visit the Apple store last night and found out that both the 14 and 16 inch models all did the same thing therefore no point in exchanging for another unit.

Wow this is interesting. I am really loving my 14" MacBook Pro M1, especially upgrading from a 2018 13" with that horrible keyboard. Wow this new keyboard is so much nicer to type on! Of course everything is night and day!

However, I noticed that whenever I pick the computer up the bottom case pushes in some and makes a popping sound, like the sound like the sound of aluminum flexing or something. I wondered can this be normal? The computer seems solid enough but I would have thought Apple would have designed them not to make sounds like that.

I wonder if its a defect or if its normal? I'm guessing it's pretty normal.

Gosh. I just googled this and came to this thread. I have the M2 Max 16" model and have only just noticed this as it's been on my desk the whole time. I finally just unplugged it to use on my lap and gripped it by the middle of the chassis and noticed how much it flexes. Looking at the laptop from the side, you can see there's a little gap where the seal should be way better. You can see it moving as you press the chassis. Honestly a little surprised. Apple's build quality is usually superior to this, no?

Here's two photos of me holding mine on the side, once without applying pressure where you can see there is a gap in the seal, and another where I'm applying mild pressure to seal it up properly.

Should I be concerned about it?

How odd - my M1 Pro 16" does not do this. I just picked it up and turned it to the side to check and there's no flexing unless I apply a lot of pressure and push down on the logo on the back...
