Hi guys,

I am really not that intelligent when it comes to reading Benchmarks and such, so asking for a bit of friendly help here..
I have a trashcan Mac Pro with the specs as you can see in attachment. I feel the computer is getting a bit old, and tired mostly. It lacks the power it once had.

I was wondering if I would go for a new Macbook Pro 16" with the following specs;
  • 2,4‑GHz 8‑core Intel Core i9-processor van de 9e generatie, Turbo Boost tot 5,0 GHz
  • 64 GB 2666‑MHz DDR4-geheugen
  • AMD Radeon Pro 5500M met 8 GB GDDR6-geheugen
  • 4 TB SSD
Will this be a bit of an upgrade? Or absolutely not? Will I notice the difference between the two? A new Mac Pro is unfortunately a bit out of my budget.

Thanks!

I'd love to know this as well! Currently debating between these two machines for music production and web development. The portability of the MBP 16 would be an added bonus though!

how about a Mac Pro 2013 12 core 2.7Ghz D500 64GB RAM VS a 16" macbook pro i9 8 core 2.4GHz 32GB RAM 5500M 8GB?

One measure of performance is the geekbench scores. Just look for the higher numbers. But it depends upon your software. Can it use multiple processors, or does it only use one? If the latter then look for single core performance.

But there are other things to consider as well. SSD performance, bus support ...
