I've decided I've vanity-bought this beast. I hardly, if ever, use it compared to my desktop Mac Studio and Studio display, and iPad Pro 12.9 when on the move. Apple Care + cover until 25 October 2024 (transferable?). Boxed, immaculate. Any thoughts on best forum/method to sell? It is mint, hardly used it. Think it was £3299 when I bought it.

Have you checked Apple for a trade in value? I always wondered how people buy, sell and upgrade so casually on this forum. I presumed they do it on eBay but the stress of getting ripped off puts me off doing it.

I made the same impulse purchase last year on an iPad Pro 12.9 which was around the £1,800 mark and I massively regret it. I tried to trade in with apple and they offered me £480.. they offered me £415 for my slightly battered iPhone 12 Pro Max so the figures just seem way off to me! I just kept the iPad out of principle! I’d rather use it occasionally than admit to the depreciation ha

Apple trade-in is terrible value for a nearly new MacBook (or any nearly new Apple device). I can only recommend trade-in for a device that is several years old and you don't want to go through the hassle of selling, and you don't care that you get at most half what it worth on the open market.

Right now the maximum Apple trade-in value on a MacBook Pro is $630

List it privately for a fair price IMO that's the best way to go. TBH since Apple have increasingly moved to an all soldered down approach I now only purchase the cheapest Mac I can get away with. Wouldn't consider dropping 3K on a portable unless the project required the performance in the field...

I've actually decided to sell my ipad pro 12.9 2021 model as it's simply not getting much usage. I still have the £329 ipad 10.2 and given I mainly use my ipad pro for mainly media content/youtube/watching sports. I may look at the OLED ipad pro 12.9 next year to see if it adds anything else to make it worth having.

at present I use my Z fold 4 for alot of the tasks I used my ipad pro for and I also use my macbook pro 16 inch daily for more intense browsing and given the M2 ipad pro 12.9 at 256GB cost like £1300 now i'm basically paying over a 1k more than my 10.2 ipad just for mini led and 120hz

Not sure how it works in the UK, but if it were the US I would strongly suggest eBay. It would sell quickly and easily. It's relatively small and you have the original box so it's easy to ship. When I sell I do so with a return guarantee and only to continental US customers. I've never had a problem as a seller.

The Apple trade in can be higher than those figures if you go through questions. My 2019 MBP 16 trade in was quoted a fair bit higher than the value in the table when I tried it previously.

One other thing if you do sell it.

Use the "erase all content and settings" option to completely WIPE IT CLEAN just before you hand it over to the buyer.

This will restore it to the "factory state" and I believe the new user will get the initial Apple startup screen (choose your language) when he/she boots it for the first time.

To do this, open system preferences.
Then go to the system preferences menu (menu bar) and choose
"Erase all content and settings".
This opens the erase assistant.
Just click through as directed.

I believe this even signs you out of iCloud (if you were using it), etc.
