Hello!

Looking to get a new machine.

Used:
or
Apple M3 Pro chip with 11‑core CPU, 14‑core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine with 36GB RAM

?

I am confused by this core bussiness.
The 16"M1 should have more GPU cores but I am tol it oes not matter for audio. I do not game.

What would be a better option for recording music and music production along side some simple video editing?
Also , when buying used, is there a certain thing I should look out for?

Right now I am working on an mid 2012 MBP.
Thank you

Realistically, either of them would be perfectly fine, especially if you're coming from a 2012 MacBook Pro.

That said, if you're going to wind up spending a lot of money anyway, you're better off getting the newer one since it will be supported longer. And while more GPU cores won't help with audio, the increased RAM certainly will.
