Good evening to the community,

I have a MacBook Pro 16" 2021 and I have this annoying issue where when I try to open the display occasionally it takes the base of the MacBook up with it! First world problems I know, I've changed my desk set up recently and it's only done it a couple of times but my questions are as follows!

1st I'll be honest is looking for reassurance, this won't have damaged the display or the actual computer components? I nurse this MacBook pretty much due to for some reason to me it feels more fragile than previous generations.

2nd any tips for opening it without the base coming up will be greatly received, the magnet seems to be really strong on these things!

Thanks in advance!

It happens to most of them.. Some of the hinges are pretty tight when new, but a few hundred open/close cycles will loosen them up a bit. All i'd do is just hold the base of the top case at the side while you're lifting up the lid. They're designed this way, so i'd say no damage would occur unless the laptop is slamming down on a hard surface..

(Try not to allow the laptop to slam down on a hard surface)

Thanks for the reply, it is pretty tight plus the fact it's very rarely used I cant see it freeing up any time soon! 😂

Thankfully I don't let it slam down, I just let it down again gently it's only a inch max the most it's ever been, just annoying!
