I posted last night regarding which MBP would be the best bang for my buck, and I've come to decide that when it comes time to make the jump, I'm going to shoot for the bottom-line SR. Currently I've got a 2.1GHz iMac G5 with 1.5gb RAM. What sort of speed improvements can I expect making this jump to the MBP? I still have to weigh whether I want to ditch the iMac or not. ;)

well when the macbook pro's first came out, they were faster than the PowerMac G5's (I think all of them, even the quad G5's but I could be wrong about that)

you do the math...

There will be nothing (except run classic only apps) that the iMac does faster than the SR MBP. Expect a very decent speed boost in all areas.

Sell the iMac.

"Sell the iMac."

Well I guess I don't need much further convincing there! :D

Yeah, after taking a look at the newest tests run by barefeats, the bottom-line SR beat out the top of the line 17" 2.16 by a generous margin, despite the difference in VRAM. So I'm sold on the newest ones, and now I'll be excited to pick one up!
