Macbook pro 2010 not charging battery

Hello guys, Im new here. I have a problem with my mac, and I wondering if you can help me. The mac is not charging the battery I tried different chargers but it doesn't work. I opened it and I noticed in the 820-2565-a (charging port)there is a "damaged" element. What is the way to go to verify the source of the problem? Thank you for your help!

That does look pretty blown to be honest. You could check with a multimeter to see if power is reaching it at all. You could replace that diode, but a new board is about $7 http://www.ebay.com/itm/APPLE-MacBo...639012?hash=item20cbb5be24:g:g5sAAOSwIwhWRD6Q so I would just replace it and see, costs nothing to do and may well solve it.

I would however attempt to work out why it's happened, perhaps damage or a bad charger. Check the ports and anything connected before that circuit, otherwise you run the risk of further damage after a repair.

I'm no expert either but that's just how I'd go about it. I believe that diode protects the computer from a power surge, so it could well be a bad charger has fried it (Rather than the computer). Like a sacrificial lamb. Either way, swap it out.

Common faults:

Dead external charger (capacitor dies in them). Happened to me.

Old, dead battery.

Uncommon faults:

Board damage. In your case... maybe?
