Hi dear,

Recently, I have noticed that Mac OS released the 12.4 version. I am trying to upgrade it from 12.3.1 to 12.4. before the restart, everything looked look going well, but it was still on 12.3.1, and nothing changed after the restart.

Maybe the problem is because I have upgraded the SSD to Samsung 970 Evo Plus with a not recommended SSD adapter.

So is there anyone who has to meet the same with this problem?

"Maybe the problem is because I have upgraded the SSD to Samsung 970 Evo Plus with a not recommended SSD adapter."

Then the solution is:
- open the MBP, TAKE OUT the Samsung drive and adapter
- put the factory-original drive BACK IN
- upgrade the OS (which also upgrades firmware, that's probably why it won't upgrade with a 3rd-party adapter)
- once done, swap drives and see if the 3rd party drive/adapter works then.

No other way around that I can see.
And... you may have to do this with future OS upgrades, as well.

haha I was think about this solution, but consider the monetary is the last MacOS can support my MacBook Pro. I may give up. Thanks for your reply anyway.

I have the same macbook (15" Retina Pro, mid-2015) and just upgraded my SSD to the Samsung 970 EVO Plus with 2Tb on a long Sintech adaptor. Clean installed Monterey and added my apps and config back in. No problems whatsover. In fact it's running faster than before.

I did try using my Time Machine backup but it's not the same. Runs slower for some reason.

OP:
"I have already tried before but still not work"

Are you saying that you took out the adapter and drive, and put the factory drive back in, and it STILL won't update?

Well, this might just be "as far as you're gonna take it".

If you come to that conclusion, then I reckon the next steps would be either
a. learn to live with its limitations
or
b. start looking for a replacement.

Click on About This Mac, and select System Report.

Under Hardware Overview screen, look at the "System Firmware Version".

What is listed there?

The latest should be 476.0.0.0

If your's is a lower number, you still don't have the latest firmware upgraded.
