2017 MacBook Pro i7 No Touch Bar.

I was using my laptop as I normally do, closed it to do something else. When I re-opened it, the screen flashed the YouTube video that I was previously watching For about a quarter of a second then went black.
After Powering on and off and opening in safe mode, it’s still remains the same

When I use an external display, the computer performs normally.

Sounds still work and Mouse/keyboard works.

Is there a loose connection? Is there a way to fix this on my own?

It is known as the flexgate problem that has to do with the ribbon cable connecting the display screen. You can't fix it on your own. Check this link if you are eligible for the replacement program, free of charge.

I just experienced the same issue on my 15inch Late 2016 MBP w Touchbar.

Complete blackness. Keyboard works fine. I can fingerprint my way in. And works fine with external monitor.
Did you just replace the flex cable OR the display? Did you do it yourself or hire it done? Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks!
