I just got them yesterday

Asus ROG PG279Q 2k @ 165hz

with my
macbook pro 2016 15" Radeon pro 460 10.12.6
(Im planning to get a eGPU someday so I just go with the monitor I want in advance)

And I bought a TypeC to DP1.2 Cable

but when I connect to my macbook pro

the screen just keeps flash to blank screen

the weird thing is

Under MacOS > even I lower the res and keep 60hz
it's always flashing

but if I use bootcamp win10 >
I can use it in 2k 60hz or 85hz
the flashing only starts above 85hz

Is it the cable causing this??
(but at least 60hz works under bootcamp)

or can anyone confirm that if macbook pro 2016 support High refresh rate monitors?
but even I just use it at 60hz, problem still there.

I'm ok to get only 60hz now at least make it usable

You may want to check your resolution settings on the monitor. I had limited experience with a 144Hz monitor and it did display well, but I was limited to the settings of the monitor (a TV in my case). No long term use so I cannot say. I do know that certain cables really limit your capabilities.

thanks for the reply

I try to get another adaptor tomorrow,
I'm quite sure the resolution is right 2560X1440

but just can't figure out why
the same setup at least I still get 60 or 85hz in windows10 bootcamp
but totally unusable under macos, even lower the resolution and refresh rate to 24hz

How about telling us what was wrong?
everything is right except the cable...

In Taiwan I not sure why,
but even till now, that the first macbook with type-c came out long time ago
there still very little type-c peripheral we can get
...
so I went on one of the largest Native online store of Taiwan
and there's very little choice of type-c to DP cable/adaptor
and I find them mostly come from TaoBao(from China),
so I go to Taobao to search for and cable..
but turns out the quality...
even though it's already to best bet I can find (not trying to find a cheap one)
still not working out

and then I gave up that cable, and go back to the online store mentioned above
and get a adaptor that at least I know the name of the brand..

and Finally works
