Hey guys,

I usually see lots of people opening threads and complaining. My first reaction is mostly: 'It cannot be so bad' and it usually annoys me. However as time went by I had my fair share of issues with the Macbook pro's myself. Including a new problem this week..

In no specific order:

- Battery issues: my macbook suddenly smelled like a chemical / firework factory and it turned out the battery had some chemical issues and there was a horrible smell coming from the back.
- Have had multiple problems with the new keyboard. Keys loosing up or jamming.
- Defective trackpad
- Display issues (I had some color problems, turned out to be a manufacturing issue, so they had to replace the display too)
- Since a few days I'm facing a weird issue with big screeching, screaming noises from the macbook. Really loud also! and muting does nothing..

Whenever my Macbook Pro is working fine I love it. But that excitement always finds a way of disappearing real quick.

Since a few days ago I had some horrible, loud screeching noise coming from my Macbook Pro speakers. Tried muting the sound but it did not work.. The sound was coming out regardless of my audio settings and at random times.

So I called AppleCare and told them about my frustration (I also have AppleCare). I was transferred to a Senior advisor who was essentially worthless in terms of finding a solution. They want me to go back to the Apple store for the 4th time in a few months. Just over an hour ago the horrible sound was coming from both speakers again and after this my right speaker is officially dead..

It could well be these issues are not as widespread as it seems on this forum BUT with my MacBook Pro 2015 15" models I've never had this many issues in such short time frames. This macbook is just 10 months old, I treat it like the most delicate thing in the world but that does not help either.

I'm an entrepreneur and my whole business is heavily dependend around our Apple computers here in the office. I use my MacBook Pro heavily for things like Data science, software development, video encoding, etc. but I expect the most expensive macbook to take this easily as a 'professional' priced computer. I've paid € 3650,- for it with Applecare just 10 months ago.

I had to post my frustrations on here this time! I empathize deeply with all of the people facing similar reliability problems with these Macbook Pro's.

I remember many years ago having a similar problem with my 17" MBP. I had Apple care as well. However, after the third problem (battery swelling, logic board, track pad) they happily agreed to replace it. I decided to go to a newer 15" and they were fine with that, plus gave me a refund for the difference.

That's the difference between old Apple and new Apple I guess.

Yeah I’ve noticed they don’t replace so easily anymore. Last time they had to do two seperare repairs but they count it as one occurence. So they told me today they still need to repair it yet again. Well at least they now replace the motherboard and the topcase so that should in theory be enough to fix all of my issues.

It’s especially all the money, time and gas I had to waste that bugs me.. and I have been without my macbook pro for 3,5 weeks already. Probably another week for this repair to complete.
