Hello
I usually use the right side of my macbook for my charging/peripherals but I have to charge my magic keyboard sometimes. Anyways today I was charging it while trying to play a video game and the frame rates went from stable to unbearable and low.
It’s basically not enjoyable or playable when I’m charging something. I’m trying to charge my magic keyboard while playing a game and it overheats even though it is not at all a demanding game by any means. This doesn’t seem fair. I’ve never really used the left side very much until now and I looked online and apparently this is a known issue so I think it’s only fair that apple replaces any laptop that has this issue.
is this actually an issue because when I look it up it seems to be one that people experience and I don’t know how to get around this problem. People mention that it “only” happens if you’re charging the MacBook Pro from the left side but I experience overheating when I’m using the left thunderbolt ports at all regardless if it’s for charging the macbook itself or whether I’m using them for some other peripheral/reason.
I’d like to add that the whole computer barely runs at all. Like I’ll try to use spotlight and I can barely type because of how slow it’s going.
kernel_task is running at 400% cpu
Do I just need to wait 10-15 minutes to let the peripheral charge a bit and then it’ll “slow down” the charging because it’s no longer dead and then my PC will catch up?
