MacBook Pro 2017 vs 2016

Hello guys,

I bought a new MacBook Pro 13.3" this weak. But I discovered that the device is an 2016 Model and is neither Early nor Mid 2017 Model. In other words, my device comes with the older Intel processors with integrated Intel Iris 550 Graphics Card.

Whereas the new Model of 2017 comes with the new structure Intel processors with an integrated Graphics Card of Intel Iris Plus 650.

The newer model costs only 50 EUR more.

My question: is it worth it to bring my device back and replace it with the newer model for only 50 EUR more? Is there a huge performance difference between the two models? What would the exact difference be? And as of graphics, is the Iris Plus 650 a lot better than Iris 550 in medium gaming and in video processing?

There's not a whole lot of difference but if you can you may as well get the newest one, it'll last you a couple of months longer.

The better iGPU in the 2017 13" model would be worth the trade in IMO.

I have a similar situation. I purchased the 2016 yesterday on sale for $1000 but I'm wondering if it's worth the $300 to upgrade to the 2017. The 2016 has some elements I do like, USB, HDMI, SD but I understand the 2017 is going to be better/faster. I mostly just use my previous 2008 MBP for writing and internet, a little light gaming.

Any advice on if it's worth the extra price and time/energy to return and exchange the '16 for the '17 is appreciated.

$300 might be pushing it a bit. Depends if you need to rely on the iGPU a lot.

Thanks for the reply. I'm leaning towards keeping the '16 and maybe upgrade when there is a very significant change in the MB lineup.
