Hello, I have a MacBook Pro 2018, 15-inch, 2,2 GHz Intel Core i7 processor, 16Go 2400MHz DDR4 Memory. It keeps shutting down randomly several times a day.

I bought it in May 2019 and it has been shutting down randomly ever since I purchased it. Hopefully, it is still under the 2 year European guaranty. Sellers are obliged to guarantee the conformity of the goods with a contract, for a period of 2 years after the delivery of the goods. I went to Apple Assistance and required their so-called experts to give my computer a check. They said the hardware was just fine so they just reinstalled the software completely. Unfortunately, this did not solve the issue. They just said this was very uncommon for this generation of MacBook, which I know is false as it has happened to some of you on this forum.

Here's an excerpt from my console log. I used the terminal run : "log show--predicate 'eventMessage contains "Previous shutdown cause"'--last 24h".

The times when the computer shut down abruptly are the ones indicating "Previous shutdown cause: -11". I was simply listening to music. CPU was 97,70% inactive. The other shutdowns indicating PSC -5 are also weird because they were not initiated by me.

I looked at a few lists of shutdown cause and I did not find the -11 amongst these. Do you think it is linked to a Kernel Panic ? Does Apple have any idea of what this is ?

What OS are you running? Check at this link, and the rest of the thread if it looks like your problem:

Edit: looks like you already found that. Make sure your OS is up to date.

I'm running OS Catalina 10.15.3. Yup I've already seen this thread. It seems only one guy was talking about that previous shutdown cause - 11 in June 2019 (post #3,480, p. 140 of the thread). His pseudo is timnelso. I wonder if he's found a way to solve this issue. It could be related to the T2 chip but I'm no expert.
