So I recently purchased a 2021 16” MacBook Pro and updated to Ventura 13.01. When I tried to connect my iPhone 12 Pro (running the latest IOS 16.1.1) via bluetooth, my device showed up on the “Nearby devices” tab in the bluetooth preferences. Unfortunately when I clicked on connect the connection didn’t hold more than 2 seconds. In fact a number of different things happened…

On my first attempt the pairing process seemed to work after confirming the code on my phone but after roughly 2 seconds the connection dropped. Another time the pairing process did not even start and yet another time my phone simply wouldn’t show up on the device list.

After following all the tips I could find on the Apple website, calling Apple and getting additional instructions (e.g. launching in safe mode) I figured it must have been a hardware issue and decided to ship it back to Amazon explaining my Bluetooth issue.

The same today I ordered another identical MacBook and am now facing the exact same issue. I would like to clarify that I have tried every possible tip I have found (Apple resources as well as other MacBook owners).

Because of the unstable connection I was initially convinced this was a disturbance issue (e.g. other WiFi or Bluetooth devices nearby) except I tried switching off every possible device, routers etc. to no avail. I even tried connecting in my garage where there are absolutely no WIFI or Bluetooth signals. I’d also like to mention that my iPhone connects wonderfully via bluetooth to my car stereo and never had any issues.

The other device I tried to connect via bluetooth is a Logitech Pebble mouse which connects perfectly well to my wife”s 2015 MacBook Pro. Same exact results.

Since this issue happened twice in a row on two different Macbook Pros I can’t imagine it being a hardware issue.

Any ideas anyone?

Thank you.
