I have the MacBook Pro 16 inch M1 Max (2021) - it doesn't have the ability to pass 24 bit 192khz from its HDMI output to my Denon AVC A110 AV Receiver maxing out at 48khz

Can anyone confirm if the soon to be released MacBook 2023 of which is rumoured to include HDMI 2.1 can now finally pass 24 bit 192khz?

Pretty sure that has nothing to do with HDMI standards as 192kHz was possible in the earliest versions from what I’ve read. Typically it’s the codec involved and how Apple has it configured. Here’s an Apple article that might help but there could be differences on how Apple utilizes the internal/headphone jack audio vs HDMI.

Only the eARC protocols from HDMI 2.1 support lossless audio up to 192khz.

Yes, the new MacBook Pro 2023 and Mac Mini M2 Pro support 192khz and VRR with HDMI 2.1 output.

With regards to my issue and as the original poster - apple have finally confirmed that it can't pass 192khz 24 bit out of the HDMI port as advertised. Im in discussions with apple currently - however, its proving difficult as predicted

I will keep you posted
