Hi guys,

is there any newer information regarding the introduction of touchscreens to the OLED MacBook, as it was reported e. g. in 2023?

Best regards!

Apple plays close to the vest in terms of details of up and coming devices, but with that said, macOS is not a touch first OS, and so I don't see this happening.

With iPadOS getting more like macOS, I don't see Macs getting iPad like features, as that will blur the lines between products.

A touchscreen OS implies a touchscreen keyboard implementation (whether the machine has a physical keyboard or not), and that's not gonna happen on Mac OS.

Tahoe has me wondering about the same thing with the much larger UI controls.

I will not be upgrading to Tahoe on my iMac Pro because it isn't supported. I'm likely to wait six months on my Apple Silicon Macs.

I think eventually it’s inevitable but as long as it’s optional I won’t get it. I’m not a fan of touchscreen operating systems for computers. Windows 8 anyone? It’s fine on a limited use device like the iPad for media consumption but not on a Mac.

Touchscreen laptops are ancient technology. If Apple were going to do it they would have done it a decade or more ago. It's not how they want you to use a laptop.

I purchased my first Apple product, an MBP16 in November 2013. Why? Because it did not have a touch screen. I hope they keep it that way. Can you imagine having these wonderful displays only to have them covered with ugly touch marks.

I think it is just coincidence of the new unified design. Apple has said time and time again that they see the iPad and Mac as distinct products when asked about touch on Mac. That water is starting to get muddy with iPadOS 26 as it is.
