MacBook Pro 3 Lag After Reopening Screen

I’ve been noticing an issue with my MacBook Pro 3. Every time I reopen the screen (after leaving it on), there’s a noticeable delay: for about 10-15 seconds, I can move the mouse, but the computer doesn’t respond to any actions. For example, I can’t switch between apps using cmd+tab during this time. After the delay, everything starts working perfectly again.

Does anyone know what could be causing this "freeze" period? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Are you logging in right before this or is it opening straight to the desktop? Is anything updating on screen other than the cursor position or is everything frozen? Leave something like activity monitor open so that when you open it back up you can see activity or not.
