Hi all,
I recently opened up my MBP4.1 15” to clean out the fans, I accidentally pulled off the socket that’s next to the fan connection on the right side. I even broke off one of the pins from the socket too.
It wasn’t actually anything to do with the fan, so I shouldn’t have touched it..
Anyway, I booted up, the fans started going full rpm.
Could anyone please confirm what this connection is, I assume it’s a temperature sensor? I couldn’t find a resource describing what’s what on the logic board.
I kind of figure it’s bad news as far as fixing goes, as the socket is soldered to the logic board.
I’ve attached a photo I took before I broke it, it’s lower the socket, With the cable routed under the board.
Any advice on how I can fix this would be appreciated. Can I source a new socket and solder it? Or is it a new logic board?
Thank you, Tim
