I purchased a core 2 duo 2.2Ghz A1226 Macbook pro however when I remove the battery it states that it is 2.5Ghz and has a A1260 serial on it?

The specs show it is a 2.2Ghz core 2 duo however why does it show 2.5Ghz under the battery?

Thanks

Logic board replacement? Or possibly crafty thieves. But more likely had the board replaced at some point, given the age it's probably been a donor machine as it would be unlikely to spend any money on such an old computer. So whatever they had to hand really.

Also, the top case (including the keyboard and trackpad) might have been swapped to another MBPro.
As long as it fits, several models will take the same top case. The serial number sticker was just missed.

A seller who refurbishes the units before selling, might have done any of a number of different parts swaps, particularly if they have several like units on hand.
The important point for you, is that your purchase (and the reported specs in the system profiler/information utility) agrees with the actual logic board configuration, and not just the serial number sticker on the inside of the case... o_O

I purchased the 2.2Ghz core 2 duo so It is what I was buying I was just wondering why it was different under the battery, they keyboard could have been replaced in the past, the machine is in great condition so I am fine with it. the outer shell says A1226 so it must have been a keyboard replacement.
