I'm a sticky situation. I need my MacBook Pro to work remotely, but with all the COVID-19 stuff happening right now it's impossible to get any help from Apple.

Here's a diagnosis:
  • MacBook Pro 2019 A2159 (2-port)
  • Trackpad clicks.
  • Plugging in a USB-C charger plays the charging sound.
  • Caps lock button doesn't turn green on click, but it is remapped to ESC.
  • Holding down the power button (fingerprint scanner) for 10 seconds stops that trackpad from clicking, but it then it does start clicking after 3 seconds.
  • If I open the lid just a fraction so that my little finger can reach the trackpad, it doesn't click. (It's detecting the lid opening/closing.)
  • No keyboard keys are backlight.
  • Touch Bar doesn't display anything.
  • Shining a torch on the screen shows no image.
  • I've tried all the combinations of resetting SMC and PRAM.
If anyone could suggest things to try, I would be exceptionally grateful. ?

having the exact same issue, did you figured it out?
Nope! Apple picked it up and and fixed it, delivering it back 3 days later. They essentially replaced all the parts in the abseils of the MacBook.

I have the exact same problem as well. One could think it is intentionally.
Service partner told me I need to spend 800-900 € to get it repaired.

Logic boards will fail from time to time. Where you are and which generation Macbook you have makes a big difference. It was rather hard to find the shop near me that would repair my board rather than insist on replacing it. Google and Yelp don't have a filter for "actually repairs logic boards." The shop I used charges $230 for pre-retina and $330 for retina Macbook Pros, which I feel are exactly the right prices.
