Macbook Pro and Cinema Display arrived

I starting checking for any of hte issues that others have reported:

I used a pixel checker, and both the 30" ACD and the 15.4" LED matte screen are perfect.

All the keys on the keyboard (including the power button) seem aligned correctly. The trackpad button feels great, not hard and "crunchy" like my powerbook was for the first few weeks I had it (it eventually "broke in" nicely).

When closed, the screen aligns nicely with the base. Both corners have about the same amount of clearance.

Now I'm working on calibrating the battery and trying to figure out how to calibrate the display.

Is there anything else I should be checking for?

Yeah, I haven't cleaned up anything yet after moving the desk to that room. I'll do a better pic when I've cleaned up the paper and cables and such ;)

The monitor can't go any further back, sadly. The back of the writing desk has about a 3-inch wood riser going around it. I've got the display as far back as it'll go. I'm trying to figure out a way around that, maybe involving removing a piece of that back riser to let the display go back another 2 or 3 inches.

Good idea. I could imagine that alot of people would feel a display that big would just be waaay too close, if they were to use your setup :)
 
Congrats...you seems to know what your doing with your new Macs.


Also I have to say the ACD are amazing, one sexy computer monitor
 
4God: The display partly looks huge because it's not a large desk. It's a really neat writing desk, and I've got an antique hardwood and cast iron chair to go with it (which weighs a ton). I love the combination of old and new, kinda like steampunk but without the fantasy aspect.

PimpDaddy: I tend to sit leaned back in the chair with the keyboard in my lap and my feet up, and for that the display isn't too close. For more normal "office-style" seating it's a pain though. Lots of head swinging to see the screen. WoW gives me a nice simulation of peripheral vision :rolleyes:

The display is far enough forward that you really can't see the little Bose speakers in the back corners of the desk (the sub is behind the desk, in the corner created by slanted the desk out from the wall. It'd be perfect if I could get it flush with them.
