MacBook Pro and Cingular BlackJack?

I have been trying to get my new MacBook Pro to use my new Cingular BlackJack cell phone to access the internet using its 3G capability. Apparently the bluetooth 2.0 support is too new for OS X 10.4, but with USB I can at least connect to the device. But, having tried a ton of modem scripts still no luck. Using the Windows Mobile script I get the following output when trying to connect.

Does the BlackJack Support the DUN (Dial-Up Networking) Bluetooth Profile? Because my T-mobile Dash DOES NOT so I have trouble getting it linked. Play around with the Internet Sharing option (in your Start --> Accessories ---> Internet Sharing)

I had a T-mobile MDA previously (w/ DUN Support) and was easily able to connect to my macbook pro.

I'm shocked the Bluetooth Modules (even on the new C2D models) don't support A2DP or PAN.

also read this: do both if you haven't for cingular.

Warning for GPRS users: if you get connected, but no traffic seems to flow, try turning off TCP header compression (Remote Access:Optionsrotocol in OS 9, PreferencesPPPP Options in OS X). Many GPRS networks do not support this feature.

Warning for OS X and GPRS: one of OS X's default settings causes problems with many GPRS networks. If you get disconnections after only a few seconds, turn off "Send PPP echo packets" in System Preferences:NetworkPPPP Options.

I finally got it working with USB. All the PPP settings and such were as posted on many threads (basically all the bottom part of the panel off). The user is ISP@CINGULARGPRS.COM and password CINGULAR1, using the generic 3G script. The trick was to use isp.cingular as the phone number NOT *99# or variations on that.

However, there ALSO seems to be a setting within the PPC SMartphone devices. I remember that BT for DUN would NOT work with older SM 2003 edition devices like the Moto MPx220 UNLESS "BEAM ON" was turned on. Not sure if this is the case with SM 2005/Mobile 5 Ed devices like the DASH or BlackJack. I still think the blackjack is overrated, smaller screen than the DASH, and those keys dont look too confortable - just a matter of personal taste though.

hmm... Im using WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM and wap.cingular as my settings. I wounder if their is a difference?

edit: i cant get the other way to work and i really don't care to make it.

One site indicated that WAP@ was for those without a contract, and ISP was for those that did have a contract. I assume it meant whether you had a data plan. The WAP values had some limits imposed that were not supposed to apply to the ISP values.

cingular has a semi-discontinued* media max connection $20, unlimited data which i absolutely love.

*i say semi because most of their tech persons don't even know about it or won't tell you, but you can still sign-up for. If you can find it, its great.
