Hello good mac people,

I have a 15" macbook pro 2.0 with 1 gig of ram, i need to max out the ram.

my question is: do i only need to get 1 chip? do i presently have 512 megs built into the motherboard, with 512 megs in a slot? --in which case i would need to get 2 1 gig chips...?!

or do i have one slot with a 1 gig chip in it, and 1 slot that is empty?

--also, where to buy ram from? i need fast fast fast....

THANKS!

Go to System Profiler (About this mac - more info) and check your Memory. It's most likely a 1 x 1GB chip, but it will tell you for sure. The Macbook Pro has two RAM slots, and no built-in RAM.

Well, I would do a search, especially in the "Buying Tips" section, as there are a million threads will people looking good RAM, and lots of good advice. I personally would go with datamem.com or OWC (macsales.com) because of their guaranteed compatibility, but you could always go with newegg.com if you're feelin' lucky.
