I currently have a PowerBook G4 and thinking of buying a MacBook Pro. However, with my PowerBook the microphone is built in behind the speaker area... So anyone Skyping with me will always hear him/herself!!. Who ever invented this??? Does anyone know if this technical designerror is solved in the MacBook Pro?

Bookshop!
i think what happens is one of the speakers (the one which is a mic) works only as a mic, while the other works only as a speaker.

The software is supposed to cancel that out so they can't hear themselves back.

iChat is clever enough to turn off left channel when conferencing, don't think Skype does that. What you could do is simply go into Sound prefs and move the channel chooser to only right channel.
