I've got a battery problem with my MacBook Pro. It worked fine when I first got it (March). But just recently the battery life has been just a few minutes, and it shuts down without any warning, losing whatever I'm working on.

It works fine when connected to the power source (which is most of the time). I have calibrated the battery, both when I got it and when this problem started happening.

It's a 15" MacBook Pro, 1.83 GHz, 1 GB RAM.

System Profiler reports that the full charge capacity of the battery is 603 mAh, the remaining capacity is 599 mAh (it's plugged in), amperage -765 mA, voltage 12213 mV, cycle count 53.

Any suggestions before I sent it back to Apple? Many thanks in advance for any advice...

I had a similar problem with a 17" MBP.

The battery was heating up and distorting so much that it was breaking contact - hence the sudden crashes.

Apple replaced it under Applecare without argument.

My feeling is that these MBP's are not as durable as the PowerBooks - I am certainly going to extend my Applecare.
