I have a late 2013 MBP 15". In April I replaced the battery with an OWC (Macsales.com) NewerTech NuPower 71 Watt-Hour Battery Replacement Kit. I had no problem replacing the battery myself.

In April, I was sent two batteries which did not work. A third was sent and was working until I started having problems about a week or week and a half ago (battery would die overnight). This morning it happened again and now shows "replace now". This is the third bad battery.

I didn't want to buy from Apple, because I can replace myself for around $50 less. I will call OWC tomorrow, but am wondering if this is a regular thing and...

Is there another reputable place to get MBP batteries besides Apple?

If I were to go Apple (can't seem to contact the actual Brea, CA Apple Store by their phone number!), how long does it take for them to replace...can it be done while I wait in store or do they ship it?

Any info would be helpful, thanks.

iFixit would be your best bet for aftermarket batteries. They actually may be OEM batteries, but I'm not sure about that.

In all honesty, I would have just had Apple replace it. On these retina MBPs, Apple replaces the entire top case (keyboard, palmrest, and battery) to replace the battery due to how difficult it is to remove the old battery. I'm probably going to have the battery on my mid 2015 15" MBP replaced soon by Apple...then I'll have a fresh keyboard as well. Between that and the staingate repair, it's going to be like a brand new machine.
