Hi

For the las week, the voiceover on my laptop doesn't seem to turn off. It's disabled on the accessibility menu and also in the login options. I did the PRAM reset and still no joy. Anybody got any other suggestions?! Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Do you mean VoiceOver (which speaks a desciption of items on the screen as you mouse over those items), or do you mean "Text to speech", which will read selected text whenever you press the relevant key?
Make sure that's turned off in Accessibility/Speech/ - uncheck the box "Speak selected text when key is pressed"

Or, what exactly is happening that leads you to believe that VoiceOver is turned on, when it may actually be another speech function?

It's basically a VO of a description of what the cursor is hovering over and also reads out sentences or text on scree that the mouse is hovering over if that makes sense? I've just unchecked Speak selected text when key is pressed" and still no joy. I've also tried unchecked and checking the enabled voiceover option but that hasn't helped either.

If I login as a guest user, it doesn't have this issue but i'd rather not do that.

Problem solved! It was an option under the zoom menu in accessibility (of all places!) I had the 'speak items under the pointer' checked. :)
