So I just got a new 15.4" Macbook Pro and i was wondering if anyone knew of any protective cases that protects my mac from scratches and everything. but i also want the case to have a cool design so if anyone knows where i can get decorative+protective cases for my mac that would be great.

I'm sure you'll get better and more knowledgable support in the MacBook Pro section.

Like ^ just said, you may have better luck in the MacBook Pro section. But if it means anything, I would go for a sleeve over a hard shell any day.

More knowledgable? I see these cases almost every week. When I pry the book out I see the damage induced. All of them look terrible after a few months and the users apologize for destroying company assets. I would think this could help sway a purchase decision.

You really don't want a "case" as it will damage your MBP.

I'd recommend this: http://www.amazon.com/Caselogic-PAS-213-13-Inch-Macbook-Neoprene/dp/tech-data/B002W5V8SE

Congrats on the new MBP! You're welcome to hang here with the Pro's :D......... but if you're feeling up for some juvenile commentary, there's a MBP forum also.

And how is that a reply to what I wrote?

Well here I am to throw in a different opinion. First of all, I had a hard shell Speck case on my macbook for over five years, no damage, no overheating etc.

I just upgraded to a MBP a few days ago and got a casemate hard shell for it. Half the bottom is vented for air. I have heard wonderful reviews on the product. It was even recommended in here in another thread.

I do keep my laptops raised on a Griffin stand as well to help with ventilation.

On my old 15" I had a Speck shell case and I really didn't like it. Made the computer bulky, a bit heavier, and I think only used it for a couple weeks.

For my new 13" I'm using an Incase neoprene sleeve that I bought for my 13" plasticbook in 2006. The sleeve can be wiped with a damp cloth on the outside for any dirt, the inside keeps the computer protected, and I don't need to use it when I'm home. The Speck case wasn't made to take on and off constantly.

I thought you were alluding to something like " no one knows what your talking about here".

Ah, ok. What I meant was that not every one of us (in the Mac Pro section) has a MacBook Pro and thus there are fewer people here who have thought about and looked for cases for them.

To the OP:
I, too, would go with a sleeve. I'm using a shock absorbing neoprene-like sleeve for my MBA and like it a lot. (Cool Bananas ShockProof)

hardshell cases "can" scratch ur notebook but as long as u take ur time and clean it once a while it should not give u any problems.

i use a incase frost white hardshell case for my macbook pro.

i even made a video on it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUFmLDc93Zc

BUT cases arent cheap, least from incase and speck. i reocmend the incase neoprene sleeve plus FIRST, and than after, if you think you need a plastic case, go for it, but ALWAYS get atleast a sleeve first.

i also made a vid on the sleeve LOL

hope they help!

take care!:)

Equally making more sense now;)
Sorry for the ranting misunderstanding.
