So i have finally decided to buy my macbook pro and i will do so this week but i have a few questions first. should i go for the 4 gig of ram upgrade or should i do it myself, also what type of screen do you recommend i get, and finally should i go for the apple warrenty. o and one more thing should i buy it online or should i go to the store, if i do buy online how long will it be until i get it?

Yes, I agree with Eldorian for the most part.
1. Upgrade the ram yourself because Apple overcharges and it is really easy to install the ram yourself.
2. I think the 15 inch screen is the best for overall use unless you think you will be watching a lot of movies or playing intense games.
3. AppleCare for a laptop is a must
4. I think you should buy it in store because you will get it that day!

upgrade the ram yourself.
Buy it online if you want to upgrade anything besides the ram. If you want It stock besides the ram get in the store and you will be able to enjoy it that day.

Also if you have any problems with it you can take it back to the store, where if you get a bad one they will make you send it back to them through the mail.

Correct me if im wrong.

I'm in the same boat as Tom.

Will this work in a Macbook Pro: Centon 2GB PC2-5300 667MHz 200pin SODIMM DDR2 Memory Module.

I also wanted to upgrade to the 160GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200 rpm. Is it worth it? I'd like to just pick my MBP up at the store, but having a faster hard drive would be sweet. Can you buy those and install them yourself?

Is this just out of date?

MacBook Pro: How to install memory
Learn how to correctly install memory into a MacBook Pro (all 15-inch and 17-inch models).

Your MacBook Pro computer has two memory slots that you access by removing the memory door in the battery bay. Your MacBook Pro comes with at least 512 megabytes (MB) of 667 MHz Double Data Rate (DDR2) Synchronous Dynamic Random-Access Memory (SDRAM) installed. It may have more memory preinstalled, depending on the configuration you chose when you bought the computer.

Both memory slots can accept an SDRAM module that meets the following specifications:

Double Data Rate Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Module (DDR SO-DIMM)format
1.25 inch or smaller
512 MB or 1 gigabyte (GB)
200-pin
PC2-5300 DDR2 667 MHz Type RAM
Depending on the configuration of the MacBook Pro you purchased, both memory slots may already be full. The maximum amount of memory you can install in your MacBook Pro is 3 GB (see article 304662; using 1 GB DIMM and 2 GB DIMM in each slot).

Is that true?

Out of date. For a current MBP, they say 4 Gb is the limit (but it's actually 8 'cause of the SR chipset). OP, definitely don't buy Apple's overpriced RAM, as long as you have the right tool (#0 philips) you're good to go. I prefer glossy screens, but the matte would be better if you have a light source behind you. Considering I advised you to upgrade the RAM yourself, get it at the store so you can enjoy it that day. Just be sure to keep the RAM because Apple doesn't like third party RAM if your computer ever needs service.

how long do i have to buy the apple care plan and since i am planning to buy my mbp online when is the earliest i can purchase it so it will come with leopard

I'd advise buying the Applecare warranty via eBay as it cost me $175 plus shipping to the UK, which still worked out as barely a third of what Apple UK charge for the same product!
