Customised build of MacBook Pro 13" (8th Gen)

Ordered: (2020.05.25) 25 May
Shipped: (2020.05.27) 27 May (from China)
Expected delivery (from Apple orders portal): (2020.06.10) 10 June
Delivered: (2020.06.04.1100) 4 June (today!)

Total distance: 10,570.14 km (6,567.98 mi) (average of 1100km a day? wth)

Just wanted to reassure people that are waiting for their orders (even if customised) - once shipped, it is much faster than predicted on the Apple orders page!
Got to be happy with that. Hardest part is leaving it for 72 hours to 'disinfect' :p

What is weird is that the delivery says it was delivered in the future.. That's ok - means get an extra day within return window to evaluate it!
🤷‍♀️:D

Enjoy it!
thanks mate!
After my 15" I can't wait to have a portable computer again!

72 to hours to disinfect? I couldn't do that. Maybe a quick wipe over, but it would definitely be up and running within 72 seconds!
I know right! After 8 days from China, it probably is ok. I usually would have it up and running but I'm super busy next couple days anyway.. itching to get back to a nice normal keyboard!
Cheers!

Enjoy your new Macbook Pro. I have just got delivery of my iPad Pro 11"(2020) & Apple Pencil 2 and I am also keeping the package aside for disinfecting for 96 hours. I will also use a disinfectant spray on the package before opening. 😁

While I have not really thought twice about doing the disinfectant spray, I would simply use gloves to open the outside box and then throw them away. Anything on the inside of the box has probably been in shipping for a few days and does not need to delayed any further.

Those new iPad pro's look amazing! The pencil is only getting more and more useful.
96 hours - is that to be extra safe or the recommendation where you are located?
Good idea on the spray! Or maybe a wipe if you want to save the packaging?
Enjoy that iPad!!

Gloves are a great idea! I will definitely do that.
Think you!

It is just to be extra safe, though 3 days should do, my common sense tells me. But I am overriding it. I am very eager to open the package and try out my iPad and Pencil. Also I could not use Pencil with my old iPad Air 2.

You know you could just open the package, dispose of the box, then wash your hands, right? The outer package is the only thing that’s been touched by human hands since it left the factory.

Yes, that is very correct. Just for my peace of mind. :)

Not sure about that. Quite a few posts about fingerprints and hand marks on Apple boxes on here!
Also have an immuno- compromised person in our bubble so I am not taking any chances. Covid would be a death sentence.
I keep all packaging. Useful for when needing to dispose of it in a few years (posting).
Cheers though if it was anything but Apple and not from China I would do exactly as you suggest!

Use clorox wipes or something. What if the thing is DOA and you have to ship it back? You just lost 4 days for nothing.
Gloves, disinfectant, don't touch your face, wash your hands and you are golden.

True. Bought it from Amazon and I have only 10 day return window. But anyway decided to wait just for safety.

4 days is still well within any return window. What happens if you give covid to your grandparents?
I think we all are washing our hands a lot and great idea on gloves 👍
