Well I used to be able to encode on my MacBook Pro superfast, and now its gone down to like 30 fps... very slow compared to the 98fps that it used to get in the beggining. Even Encoding in iDVD goes slow. But Handbrake is where it is most noticeable. I have 1 Gig of Ram and 2.0 GHZ processer... is anyone else expierencing serious slowdowns when encoding on the MBP? ( I have nothing running in the background)

I was not impressed when I was useing idvd. It seemed to take awhile for just a 6 minute video.

I wonder if Apple rushed the iLife Intel transition and made a few bugs here and there...

Are you up-to-date on your iLife apps and everything else?

I do it straight from a disk
And yes im up to date with everything i should be... Checking Software update.... No new software at this time....
Ill try the Video TS folder next time and see what happens... maybe re-install handbrake...

My MacBook Pro 2GHz encodes H.264 slower than my iMac 2GHz G5 using EyeTV 2.1.

How fast does your MBP encode at?
I reinstalled and am getting around 36... and thats because i ripped the DVD to my external drive first... Only good thing about today is that i finally got my replacement battery for my MBP...

I have no idea how many fps, but my mbp used more than 6 hours to encode a 1 hour 31 min clip in high quality H.264 from mpeg2, and my iMac used 5 hours to encode a 1 hour 26 min clip with the same settings.

Lets just say I won't start any mass production of these clips.

Crazy machines... And my battery that they sent me is a dud.. great... :(
Back of to apple it goes, (as soon as i calabrate it to make sure)
Does anyone else have any quotes for how many FPS their MBP encodes video? include specs on the computer and what you are encoding for.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I'm having this same problem. It's taking a few hours to encode a video for iDVD. I've looked in process viewer... it's using anywhere from 70-120% of CPU. I'm guessing full CPU usage is 200%? (For Both Cores)...

This seems a bit low. I'm guessing iDVD isn't optimized yet...
