Hi guys,

Recent owner of a 2017 macbook pro - 2.9ghz i7, 560 4gb.

I've noticed that the computer does not handle lightroom extremely well. Even on some lightish editing in the develop module, or even moving quickly through photographs in the library module, the fans will pick up enormously and get very loud. It makes the editing process less enjoyable and tbh quite frustrating as i'm trying to edit photographs but instead get distracted by fan noise.

Is this normal behaviour for the macbook pro or abnormal?

Cheers

I'd say its normal. Open up the Activity Monitor (found in Applications/Utilities) and select all processes in view menu and see how much CPU is being used by Lightroom - that will translate directly to the increase temps, which in turn ramp up the fans.

I also recommend iStat Menus, it can display CPU and temperatures in the menu bar. This may be helpful as well.
