I have a Mid-2015 15" MacBook Pro Retina that usually is pretty quiet when not connected to an external display. However, plugging it into my 24" 2K BenQ monitor, the fans go completely haywire, running somewhere between 5700 RPM and their max (Left: 6156 RPM, Right: 5700 RPM). This gets rather loud and bothersome when working.
I've tried connecting other MacBook Pros to the monitor, even older models, and they were a lot more quiet. So I can deduct that there's something off about mine.
All my temps are normal, none of them surpass 65 degrees celsius. My Activity Monitor shows that the CPU is 95% idle, and I don't have any heavy processes running.
I've furthermore tried resetting the SMC, but to no avail. Do you have any ideas on how to address this issue?
