Yeah... (I don't post to this section really, but thought I would share this...)

For $1449 you can get a Certified Apple Refurb 2.2GHz MacBook Pro

http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APP...e.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=44BD9AA1&nclm=CertifiedMac

• 15.4" LED Screen 1440x900
• 2GB RAM (expandable to 4GB)
• 120GB HD (upgradable)
• DVD-R/W CDR Superdrive
• nVidia GeForce 8600M GT (can drive dual-link 30" displays)

Ports: Power, Audio-in, Audio-Out, dual USB-2.0, ExpressCard32, Dual-Link DVI, Gigabit Ethernet, FireWire 400, FireWire 800 (umm...about 10 ports)

so, compare that to the base $1799 MacBook Air. With the MacBook Pro, you are getting ALOT more for your money, a much more powerful, more expandable, more spacious machine that can easily network, download, move files, etc...plus it's $350 cheaper!!!

I just don't understand the hype about the $1799 MacBook Air, I guess...it seems overpriced for what you are getting...TWO PORTS? NO ETHERNET? what? No disk drive? No Firewire?

I guess it's the same hype that the Duo created, then the 2400c, then the 12" PowerBook...people just want TINY Tiny tiny. And they will shell out anything for it. Tinyddiction I guess it is...

Anyways, I just can't equate that for myself. The MacBook Pro is just a no-brainer vs. the MacBook Air. It doesn't even come close for me.

What I find even more amazing is people who don't want a MacBook Air showing all kinds of weird comparisons. ;)

Seriously, anyone who doesn't want a MacBook Air, great! You have the MacBook and MacBook Pro to choose from. Three great notebooks for different purposes.

The MacBook Air is about thin and light. If that doesn't interest you go look at something else. If it does interest you, you'll like the Air. Pretty darn simple.

USA! USA!
In other news: an MSR backpacking stove costs twice as much as a full size Coalman campground stove, even though the latter has two burners! How does MSR even sell those things? What a rip off.

Right. Did you know that you show symptoms for Specaddiction?

MBA and MBP have different target markets - just like desktops and laptops have different target markets (OMG I can have such a beasty Mac Pro for less than that pathetic dual-core slow-a$s MBP!!!1!11!!)

Is it really so hard to understand for some people?

Apparently so- it seems to be similar to the well-known phenotype whereby people blather on to hear the sound of their own voice.

Impressive. And what, 2 months late?

I can get a refurb Maserati cheaper than a new one. So what? Who cares? I think everyone with a working brain cell can understand that refurbs are cheaper than new ones.

Why are people threatened so by this computer? I just don't understand. Different strokes for different folks.

Ward, I hope you enjoy your MacBook Pro. Those of us who don't need all that speed, space, and expansion capability and who like the MBA's small size and can afford to go with an MBA will continue to enjoy our MBAs.

(Honestly, these threads are so pointless...)

Shockingly, I agree with you.

These threads have been done to absolute death, there's no need to debate it any further. You either think it is good value and buy one or you don't, but we don't need to discuss (again) who is right and who is wrong.
