I was at the apple store yesterday playing with the new MBP. Does anyone else think these things feel slow? I was also playing with the new intel imac, they both had the same memory and the imac actually had the 1.83 instead of the 2.0 in the MBP. The imac felt 10 times faster than the MBP. Anyone have any ideas why?

Seems very odd, I have no idea why....I havent had a chance to play around with a MBP but i have played with an intel Mac and they are pretty snappy...there's no reason the MBP should be any different,

You would think so but it was. Maybe something on it (software) wasnt installed properly.

I have one right now and it is as snappy as possible. I really could not be more pleased with the overall speeds of it. I love it. In fact I think it is as fast as I will ever need. Once Photoshop comes out in UB I will be 100% set. The keyboard is very interesting. It has a unique feel.

Glad to hear your MBP is running well :) I just placed my order for one last night. 2GHz, 1GB RAM, 7200RPM 100GB HDD

Well..

It depends if Apple Store had something running in the background to slow it down. Or maybe its a defect, "overuse" or something. I have an iMac G5 and after I'm on it awhile it will just slow down dramatically, all you have to do is go to finder and click the blue apple menu, select force quit and highlight Finder and click relaunch and its speeds right up again!

When I used the iMac core duo in the apple store I thought it was slow. Maybe because I was thinking that it would be 2 times faster liked jobs said.

One thing I loved was the brightness of the screen. Is the MBP pro screen as bright as the iMac's

Well I don't know, I played with a Macbook on Wendsday at the Apple Store, it was actually faster (or felt) than the iMac Core Duo. And me and the guy working at the Apple Store (it was his first time to) Set up an iChat confrence and ran every program that the book had on the dock. Ran Exposé and were also playing HD video that was saved on the Macbook... worked great and didnt slow down a bit... . Might have been that you wernt used to the mouse speed on the trackpad... have you used desktops alot or are you really familliar with labtops?
