finally bit the bullet, my plans have changed from a mac pro & 30" ACD down to a 24" imac (lack of desk & wall space) down to a macbook pro (space, and a desire to watch telly while working). but I finally went and got one.

plumbed for the low end one, since to me the difference between the 1350 ukp & 1900 ukp wasn't worth it...

anyway first impressions:

the shop & staff I Like (or should that be iLike? ahem.)

carrying the box (i got a printer with it) through meadow hall just priot to crimbo.. um.. yes well that was my fault i guess.

as for the machine, well it comes in a nice box, and when i can find something to get through the seal on it i shall open it (way to knackered last night to fight my kitchen to find a knife), but it looks nice.

job for tonight.. work out how to turn it on etc, oh and get the egalto hybred whatsit working and some music loaded for over the crimbo break when I'm not at home etc.

new year jobs include getting parallels working (may be slow with 1gb ram, but slow i can live with, this machine is somewhat faster than my athlon 2000 i hope).

given the alternative was the 24" imac *and* a low spec pc laptop.. an alternative shot down by pcworld not wanting to supply a windows install disc, and dell didn't appear to apeak english, at which point i gave up.

nothing but praise for the guys in the shop at meadowhall. I'll post a bit more as an when i manage to get into the box...

Hehe, you went from a Mac Pro and 30" ACD down to a base MacBook Pro? Now that's impressive ;)

Enjoy!

the plan was to get a mac pro, to replace my current pc tower, and a 30" acd to replace the pair of 17" crt's...

then an unexpected house move torpedoed it, cus i wouldn't have space for the 30" acd, and the room it would end up in is a tad cold, hence something i can use downstairs...

pity, but maybe next year, i still want that display, the idea of dropping a dvd on it while curled up at night is nice.

when i get a desk again i'll get a seperate kb & mouse as well.. :) and of course even more important somewhere to put me coffee & bikkits
