So I recently bought a refurbed macbook pro (2013) 15" off ebay, and a week into using, I have had an issue twice now with i waking it up from sleep. It does not happen every time, I would say maybe one out of 20x it has occurred.
The issue is that when it is asleep and I press the power button to wake it up, the backlight on the keyboard and the screen will flicker on for a sec the it all goes back off. I have included a link to a video showing this so you can see what i am talking about -
(excuse the noise in the background)

I do nothing differently (same amount of time holding the button, etc) every time I wake it up, yet this issue only happens sporadically. Any ideas? Should I just return it? Would a new keyboard fix this?

If it is sleeping - -
Pressing any key should wake your MBPro, so is there any difference if you try a different key?
I would suggest pressing the shift key.

Does the sleep duration make a difference? That is, is it more likely to fail if it has been sleeping for more that 2 or 3 hours/overnight, more often than, say, sleeping for a couple of minutes, then waking up.

Do you have any problem with starting up from OFF?

Up until now I hadn't tried any other key, but I did a few times since reading your post last night, and it woke up fine. It has only happened twice in the past week so it's hard to nail down any specific circumstances, it woke up fine this morning after sleeping all night.

No problems with starting up from OFF

My concern is since i just got this, is it something that happens only every once in a while now but may become more frequent with time?

Thanks
