i have the opportunity to buy a macbook pro that was purchased in april 2006 but never used. it only comes with an 80 gb hard drive and 512 RAM but comes with applecare (only about a year and half left...) and is priced around $1300.

think this is worth it?

i'd say go for it, you might want to upgrade your ram if you plan on using any medium-large weight programs. but thats a great price

Not the best deal ever, but ok. I would think for $1300 you could get a Core Duo MBP with 1gig of RAM and a 100gig hard drive. My girlfriend bought a refurbished MBP from an Apple store for $1350, included 2.16GHz CD, 1gig, and 100gig HD and that was about 6 months ago.

Go for it! Super machine.
However make sure you shove at least 1gb of ram in there if you can afford it. Don't worry about the 80gb internal HD. Go buy an external one. There cheap nowadays and put all your docs, photos, music or movies onto that.

;)

Also buy Leopard too :D
