I'm thinking about upgrading my MPBs drive in the future. What harddrives (size, manufacturer and model) are the Macbook Pros available with?

Is the 80GB an Seagate something? How about the 100GB and 120GB drives?

Thanks in advance.

Hard Drive
A Serial ATA hard drive gives you more space for data and applications. Choose 80GB, 100GB or 120GB drive capacities at up to 7200-rpm depending on the MacBook Pro model.

80GB Serial ATA drive @ 5400 rpm
100GB Serial ATA drive @ 5400 rpm [Add $100]
120GB Serial ATA drive @ 5400 rpm [Add $200]
100GB Serial ATA drive @ 7200 rpm [Add $200]

Apple never discloses their OEMs, therefore the drive could be a Toshiba, Fujitsu, Western Digital, Samsung or Seagate, and it may vary from month to month.

So while a MacBook Pro owner could tell you what's in their machine, that would be no guarantee what would be in a machine that you purchase.

Hitachi is in the mix of hardrives as well. I upgraded to the 7200rpm in my MacBook and it flew! Problem is that the rest of the computer sucked which is why I got rid of it in 2 weeks.

I'm wondering: what sucked so much?

Also, do you think that the 7200RPM drive added alot of extra heat to the already hot MBP?

Thanks,

Oded S.
