Hey I just got my Macbook Pro. I had it MTO and upgraded to the 160GB 7200rpm hard drive...but once I started it up I was checking the specs and noticed that the drive was only 148.73GB and I only have 98.1GB available after adding about 20GB of music. Is this right?? Did I get the right drive? How can I check?

Yep, that sounds about right. See this support article to understand the difference in perceived hard drive sizes.

The default OS X install runs about 20 GB, plus another 20 GB in music gets you in the neighborhood of what you're seeing.

Ya, its a joke. When I partioned my HD I noticed I was missing a helluva lot of HD space. So I added it all up, and on my so called 120GB hd, I was missing like 10 GBs....what a ripoff.

ok cool. i just wanted to be sure. on my old powerbook with 80GB the drive actually says that it was a total of 76.8GB so i figured maybe something was up with this one. but i guess not! thanks!
