MacBook Pro is hotter than usual!

My MacBook Pro, while it does get hot, doesn't get up to 140ºF unless I'm doing something graphices intensive, but all I'm doing now is typing up a paper in Pages, and browsing the web. I also have my email program running in the background.

I wouldn't worry too much about it unless it starts reaching 75-80ºC.

That's just my opinion, though. Others may very well disagree.

I don't know how unusual this is. My MacBook was 64 C last night (148F) just with just Fireworks open.

Thanks. I was just worried that maybe my fans were broke. Sometimes fans can be too quiet. Oh well, iStat says the fans are going at about 1,000rpms.

Up until recently, it didn't get so hot without doing something graphics intensive.

BTW, it seems to have cooled down a little.

I've had my mbp c2d now for about 2 weeks and installed the dashboard mini stats and have never seen the temp go over 60ºC, for me the temp normally hovers around 50 r 55ºC and thats with safari, mail, itunes open
and compared to my old g5 imac the mbp literally is whisper quiet lol.

I think that's pretty normal. Mine gets extremely hot (makes my legs sweat) even if I'm just on the web after a while. I do hear the fans kick on occasionally when I'm doing a bit more CPU-intensive stuff with Logic.

You may want to check Activity Monitor and see what processes are using the CPU. I had a runaway print job that caused a similar heat issue for me. Once I killed the print process, everything went back to normal.

I noticed on mine that if I'm on any web page with any sort of Flash, it runs VERY hot, almost too hot to touch.

Mine's at 70ºc right now, sitting on my lap with a gap underneath it. Safari, iChat, Adium and iTunes open but only 1 fan is even spinning...

On my macbook right now with Safari, Firefox, Lotus Notes, Parallels, Itunes all running my temp is at 64C.

Played WOW last night on the MBP and the hottest it got was 68c.

Thanks for all the input. My fears have been put to rest. I'm definitaly going to check the Activity Monitor thing, sounds like it's worth a shot.
